Shift Littleton: A New Era of Shared Workspaces

Clutch Design Studio's Award-Winning Creation Marries History with Modernity

Shift Littleton, a unique shared workspace designed by Kristen Tonsager of Clutch Design Studio, breathes new life into the concept of collaborative workspaces. Drawing inspiration from Littleton's rich agricultural and railroad history, the design effortlessly blends elements of the past with the demands of today's remote workers and small businesses. The result is a luxurious, edgy, and inviting workspace that has earned a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021.

Shift Littleton stands out as a testament to the evolution of shared workspaces. The design incorporates elements from previous Shift locations, such as borrowed timber and Edison bulbs, and pairs them with site-specific trinkets and artifacts. The walls, adorned with dramatic patterns and textures, frame curated and custom artworks, creating a timeless design for these changing times.

The design's unique properties lie in its ability to anticipate the needs of today's remote workers. The workspace is equipped with eye-catching elements and creature comforts designed to inspire creativity and boost productivity. Shift's mantra of being unapologetically edgy yet luxurious and inviting is reflected in every corner of this 28,000-square-foot space.

Clutch Design Studio has left no stone unturned in realizing this design. The materials sourced for this project include Timorous Beasties wallcoverings, Brooklyn-based Flavor Paper, and tailor-made wall coverings from local books of antiquity. The lobby dazzles with different iterations of glass chandeliers sourced from Restoration Hardware, and the space is grounded with Tarkett’s wood flooring.

The design is not just about aesthetics; it also prioritizes functionality. The workspace includes 117 private offices, 17 private phone booths, 6 conference rooms, a 3,000-square-foot outdoor terrace, and a 4,500-square-foot bar and lounge area with unobstructed mountain views. State-of-the-art air filtration and UV disinfectant systems ensure a safe and healthy environment for all occupants.

Shift Littleton is a testament to the power of design in transforming workspaces. It is a space that fosters community, enhances productivity, and pays homage to the local history. It is a space that truly embodies the future of shared workspaces.
